If you are raring to go out and enjoy the nice weather in a few weeks, there’s no better way to have fun than to have a weekend party with friends or family. Spending time with the people we love is already rewarding enough in itself, but if you can relax with them in a beautiful home or villa complete with a pool and game room, why not? If you are planning a weekend party, you’d want to make sure that it’s extra special and unique, but you also want to make sure that everyone has fun and there are no awkward scenarios. So how can you best plan the perfect weekend party? Here are some top tips.
- Plan your guest list with care
Choosing whom to invite to your weekend party can be a challenge, but there’s a trick to make it easier: invite those whom you think will be most likely to get along and enjoy each other’s company. When planning your guest list, select those who have certain common interests, and this may well work even if they haven’t even met before. Avoid inviting guests at random, regardless of whether you get along with those people individually.
- Be mindful of room allocations
If you are renting a large house or villa for the weekend, it’s best to choose party houses to rent that will fit all your guests and give each guest some private space. But if you have a large guest list, it may be difficult to find a house that can comfortably accommodate say, 20 people. If you can, ask some of your guests if they wouldn’t mind sleeping in the same room with someone they are already close to. If some guests have to sleep on a sleeper sofa or inflatable mattress, make sure to tell them in advance.
- Choose flexible activities
It would be great if you can plan various activities that you and your guests can enjoy, such as a clay pigeon shooting session or a water polo game. But you have to be flexible as well because your guests may sometimes want to be left alone and relax by themselves. A few guests may like sleeping in and don’t want to be disturbed before 10 am, and some may be early risers who want to explore the countryside. But you should still think of something to fill a lot of hours, especially on Saturday. If you have chosen a house by the water, you can perhaps arrange for kayak rental for those who are keen. If your weekend rental house is near a village, some guests may want to explore the shops and walk around. Activities like croquet and volleyball are easy to arrange, and croquet is even better because they can drink whilst they play!
- Know what you have to cook
You should also be prepared to do a bit of cooking. For example, if your guests are arriving on Friday evening, make sure you have something for them to munch on as they may be famished. A buffet would be a good idea as it’s easy to replenish. Additionally, your guests will expect breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, so be ready with easy-to-fix choices like bagels and cream cheese, eggs, and fruit. Most of all, have fun!
